The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is now available for PC. Bethesda Game Studios released the highly anticipated remaster of the 2011 hit game. The Special Edition includes all five official DLC packs which can be purchased individually or in a bundle, along with support for mods on Steam Workshop. The system requirements have also been released, so consumers know what hardware they'll need to run the game at optimal quality settings. New features this time around include more interesting choices when it comes to weapon and armor customization, an improved interface that allows easier on-the-fly configuration changes, and some spiffy new animations and voice work. The game itself is set in the Kingdom of Skyrim, which is the home of the Nords (think Vikings). It's an open-world game where consumers will be able to play as any one of the races. It also features dragons, which are an integral part of the game's story. Bethesda Softworks developed the game and published it on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The company released it first on PS4 because Sony has a deal with Bethesda that allows them to release their games first on PS4 before releasing them onto Xbox One or PC. This deal was signed back when Microsoft required publishers to have all their games launch on Xbox 360 before releasing them onto other consoles. The game was originally released in 2012 on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The original game was actually left incomplete by Bethesda's Todd Howard. Later on Bethesda released several large updates which added in most of the content that was skipped over for the original release. After the amazing commercial success of the game, Howard promised to bring it to current-gen consoles sometime in 2015. Due to development time required for mod support, Howard pushed back both games' releases by one year at each publisher's request. This is also the first time that the game is coming out with official mod support or "paid mods" (mods that cost money). These mods were highly criticized by fans and gaming journalists who felt that they added a paywall to a game that was previously accessible for free. Modders will only get 25 percent of the money from each mod sale. In November 2016, Howard revealed they were talking to Sony about officially supporting mods on PS4. In January 2017, Howard officially announced that PS4 users would be able to access mods through a program called "Creation Club". Bethesda Game Studios is the developer and publisher of "The Elder Scrolls". Bethesda released the game on Steam on May 31, 2016. The game is available for PC through the Steam platform. PS4 users did get mods, but they did not have to pay for them. On November 14th Bethesda released an update that enabled Skyrim to run with mods on PS4 by way of a patch. This also meant that players would not have to pre-load or install any patch since the patch was simply an update to the game itself. Sony added the feature only months after Bethesda announced its intentions at console launch in 2014. This was met with some criticism among fans of consoles who felt it added an unnecessary cost to playing the game at home consoles. eccc085e13
